Introducing SWAN Seminars: Empowering Walvis Bay’s Community and Youth

Sharing is caring!

For several years, the SWAN Assembly Trust has been dedicated to empowering the community members of Walvis Bay through their impactful seminars. These seminars have provided invaluable opportunities for personal and professional growth, particularly for the youth. Based at Kuisebmond Secondary School, the SWAN seminars have become a beacon of hope, fostering knowledge, skills, and empowerment among individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Prior to the commencement of the seminars, the project coordinator met with the chairperson/principal and facilitators on the 25th of September 2022. The purpose of this meeting was to establish a solid foundation for collaboration, ensuring that all parties were aligned in their expectations and responsibilities. Contracts were signed, marking the commitment of both the facilitators and SWAN management to the success of the program.

Throughout the seminars, participant attendance was closely monitored, with clear guidelines communicated at the outset. To be eligible for a certificate, participants were required to achieve an attendance rate of 80%, which equated to attending at least 16 out of the 20 days of the course. The participants’ progress was assessed through regular testing on the covered topics, accompanied by immediate feedback from the facilitators. This feedback mechanism not only helped track the participants’ learning journey but also fostered a supportive and interactive learning environment.

The culmination of the seminars was the graduation ceremony, held on the 23rd of November 2022. A total of 72 participants successfully completed the courses, representing a diverse range of subjects. The graduation cohort consisted of sixteen participants from the Environmental Health and Safety course, eighteen from the Beginner Acrylic Nail Enhancement course, nineteen from the Basic Needlework course, and nineteen from the Basic Computer course. It was a joyous occasion, where the participants were celebrated for their hard work, dedication, and newfound skills.

The impact of these community seminars is immeasurable. Over the past decade, more than 5000 community members have benefited from this empowering initiative. The seminars have not only equipped participants with practical skills but have also instilled a sense of confidence and self-belief. By providing free access to valuable knowledge, SWAN Assembly Trust is fostering personal growth, promoting lifelong learning, and creating opportunities for individuals to enhance their lives and contribute to their communities.

We express our deepest gratitude to the Flamingo Group in Sweden for their generous support, which has made these seminars possible. Additionally, we commend the SWAN Assembly Trust, the facilitators, and the dedicated staff at Kuisebmond Secondary School for their unwavering commitment to uplifting the community through education.

As we look forward to the upcoming community seminar session, we invite all community members to take advantage of this invaluable opportunity. Together, we can continue to empower individuals, transform lives, and build a stronger, more prosperous society.

Join us in celebrating the success of the SWAN Assembly Trust’s community seminars, where knowledge becomes empowerment, and individuals thrive.
