Celebrating Heritage Through Culture

As part of the Walvis Bay community’s Heritage Week celebrations at the end of September, Kuisebmond Secondary School proudly participated in the Walvis Bay Cluster Cultural Event, a competition that brings together schools to showcase their cultural pride and talent.

Our Exciting Achievement: 2nd Place in the Secondary Schools Category

We are thrilled to announce that our school achieved 2nd place in the Secondary Schools Category! This outstanding result has earned us the opportunity to represent Walvis Bay at the regional level, and we are determined to keep the momentum going until we reach the national stage. The competition was intense, with various schools showcasing their rich cultural heritage, but our learners stood out with their vibrant performances and dedication.

Our Cultural Groups: A Fusion of Oshiwambo and Nama Heritage

The energy and rhythm of Namastap proudly reflect our heritage.

Kuisebmond Secondary School’s cultural group is a blend of Oshiwambo and Nama traditions, allowing us to celebrate Namibia’s diverse cultural fabric. Our learners, dressed in beautifully colorful traditional attire, proudly represented their cultures, displaying a variety of dances, songs, and customs that captivated the judges and audience alike.

We are especially grateful to our dedicated teachers, Ms. Garises, who prepared the Nama cultural group, and Ms. Kleopas and Ms. Haufiku, who led the Oshiwambo cultural group. Their hard work and guidance were instrumental in this achievement.

Our Learners: A Reflection of Pride and Culture

The colorful outfits worn by our learners symbolized not only their cultural heritage but also their pride in being part of the Kuisebmond Secondary School community. Their performances were a true reflection of the values we hold dear – unity, pride, and respect for our heritage.

Looking Ahead: Regional and National Competitions

As we prepare for the next stage of the competition, the regional level, we are confident that our cultural group will continue to shine. The spirit, talent, and passion shown by our learners give us the belief that we will make it to the national level, where we can showcase our cultural pride on an even larger stage.

A Special Thank You to Our Teachers

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Garises, Ms. Kleopas, and Ms. Haufiku for their dedication to preparing our cultural groups. Their passion for preserving and celebrating our cultural heritage is evident in the exceptional performances by our learners. We are truly fortunate to have such committed educators guiding our students.

Kuisebmond Secondary School: A Society of Achievers

At Kuisebmond Secondary, we are not just a school; we are a society of achievers. This recent success in the cultural competition is another testament to our commitment to excellence, both academically and culturally. As we move forward, we will continue to foster the talents of our learners and nurture a sense of pride in their heritage.

Let’s continue to support our learners as they embark on the next leg of their journey in the regional competition, and let’s celebrate this wonderful achievement together!
