KSS Keeps Making History in 2026: Innovation, Cricket and Alumni Success

Sharing is caring!

A Season of Success for KSS

The first half of 2026 has been a period of celebration for Kuisebmond Secondary School, with learners and alumni excelling in environmental innovation, cricket, and sport at both national and international levels.

From earning honours at the Science, Engineering and Creativity (SEC) Competition in Swakopmund to receiving national recognition at the Cricket Namibia Annual Awards, Kuisebmond learners continue to demonstrate that excellence can be achieved both inside and outside the classroom.

These recent successes not only bring pride to the school but also reinforce a legacy that has been built over many years through hard work, determination, and community support.

SEC Competition Team Brings Home Silver

One of the highlights of the year was the participation of Kuisebmond Secondary School learners in the Science, Engineering and Creativity (SEC) Competition held in Swakopmund.

Under the guidance of Mr Gideon, who supported the project from preparation to presentation, learners showcased a creative sculpture developed from recycled materials. The project focused on environmental conservation, recycling, and innovative solutions to waste management challenges.

The learners confidently presented their work to judges and visitors and were rewarded with an impressive second-place finish in the secondary school category.

The achievement reflects not only the creativity of our learners but also their ability to use innovation to address real community challenges.

National Recognition at the Cricket Namibia Awards

On 13 June 2026, Cricket Namibia hosted its Annual Awards Ceremony at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

The event celebrated outstanding achievements across Namibian cricket and was attended by Deputy Minister Dr Dino Ballotti.

Kuisebmond Secondary School was proudly represented by Principal Mr J. Maswahu, who received awards on behalf of the school.

For the third consecutive year, Kuisebmond Secondary School received national recognition, an achievement that few schools can claim.

Among the awards received was:

National Sixes U/16 & U/19 Girls Champions – 2025

This awards are a testament to the dedication of our young cricketers, coaches, school management, and parents who continue to support learner participation in sport.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable achievements is Kuisebmond Secondary School’s contribution to the current Capricorn Eagles Women’s National Cricket Team.

Of the fourteen players currently representing Namibia at senior national level, six are former Kuisebmond Secondary School learners.

This means that nearly half of the national women’s cricket team once walked the corridors of our school.

These players began their journeys as young learners, many joining cricket during their junior secondary years. Through the support of their families, coaches, Sports Manager Mr Uirab, and the school leadership under Principal Mr J. Maswahu, they were able to pursue opportunities that eventually led them to represent Namibia.

Today, although many have moved to Windhoek to pursue tertiary studies and cricket careers, they remain proud ambassadors of Kuisebmond Secondary School.

Following in the Footsteps of Great Alumni

The success of our current and former learners follows a proud tradition established by some of Namibia’s most celebrated sports personalities.

Among our distinguished alumni are:

Agnes Samaria

One of Namibia’s most successful middle-distance athletes, Agnes Samaria represented Namibia internationally and inspired countless young athletes through her dedication and achievements on the track.

Johanna Benson

Paralympic Gold Medallist Johanna Benson remains one of Namibia’s greatest sporting icons. Her achievements on the world stage placed both Namibia and Walvis Bay firmly on the international sporting map.

These remarkable women continue to remind our learners that great achievements are possible regardless of one’s background.

From the KSS Classroom to International Boxing Success

The year 2026 also brought exciting news from the boxing world as former Kuisebmond Secondary School learner Errikie Errikie captured the vacant WBC Silver Youth Junior Lightweight Title in South Africa.

Errikie, who was a Grade 12 learner at Kuisebmond Secondary School in 2025, has been an outstanding example of dedication, discipline and perseverance.

Since joining the school in Grade 8, he worked tirelessly to balance his academic responsibilities with the demanding training schedule required to compete in boxing. While many young athletes struggle to manage both school and sport, Errikie remained committed to pursuing excellence in both areas.

His determination paid off in April 2026 when he defeated South Africa’s Lonwabo Sizana by fourth-round knockout in Gqeberha to claim the prestigious WBC Silver Youth Junior Lightweight Title.

The achievement was celebrated throughout Walvis Bay and Namibia, with Errikie later paying a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Walvis Bay, where he presented his championship belt and was congratulated for putting both Walvis Bay and Namibia on the international boxing map.

His journey serves as an inspiration to current learners, demonstrating that success is possible when talent is matched with hard work, discipline and commitment.

At Kuisebmond Secondary School, we are proud to have been part of Errikie’s educational journey and look forward to following his continued success as he represents Namibia on the international stage.

Building More Than Academic Success

At Kuisebmond Secondary School, we believe education extends beyond the classroom.

Whether through science competitions, cricket fields, athletics tracks, or community leadership, our learners are encouraged to develop their talents and pursue excellence in all areas of life.

The recent achievements of our learners and alumni remind us that Kuisebmond Secondary School continues to play an important role in developing future leaders, innovators, and champions.

As a school community, we celebrate these successes and look forward to seeing even more learners raise the KSS flag high in the years ahead.
