KSS Receives Generous Donation from NFCPT Towards Multi-Purpose School Hall

Sharing is caring!

Kuisebmond Secondary School (KSS) recently received a generous donation of N$50,000 from the Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) towards the school hall project. The handover ceremony took place on 14 March 2023 at the NFCPT head office and was attended by various representatives from KSS and NFCPT.

According to NFCPT marketing & communication manager, Mrs. Eveline Stefanus, the donation was made in response to a plea by the Erongo Governor, Honourable Neville Andre, who urged the business community and stakeholders to assist the government in meeting the dire need for infrastructure in government schools. NFCPT’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Victor Pea, emphasized the organization’s commitment to corporate responsibility and improving the value of education. He stated that investing in infrastructure like a school hall contributes to the total education of a child.

Mr. Pea also pledged an additional N$50,000 towards the hall project every year until the hall is complete, stating that a multi-purpose hall like this will be beneficial for the whole Kuisebmond community.

The hall committee chairperson, Mr. Cliff Shikuambi, expressed his gratitude towards NFCPT for their noble gesture and noted that the hall project has been ongoing for 11 years, starting in 2012. Mr. Shikuambi urged the business community to come on board as they need around N$5 million to complete the hall.

Mr. Jonathan Maswahu, the principal of KSS, expressed his gratitude to NFCPT for their sincere efforts in helping the school achieve its dream of having a modern and functional school hall. This hall will not only serve the school but also benefit the community, as various projects such as SWAN seminars, literacy classes, NAMCOL classes, and more will be hosted here. Additionally, there are six classrooms attached to the hall that will address the shortage of classrooms at the school. Despite the windy and often chilly weather of Walvis Bay, parent meetings are being held outside.

This donation is a wonderful example of how businesses can come together to improve the education and well-being of our communities. We at KSS are grateful for the support of NFCPT, Erongo Red, and the Flaming Group in Sweden, and we look forward to continuing to work toward completing the school hall project. With the help of our community and stakeholders, we can provide our students with the facilities they need to thrive and succeed.
