On 10th May 2023, Kuisebmond Secondary School hosted a special gathering to honor its learners who made headlines in external competitions, both regionally and nationally. The event was a fitting tribute to these talented students who brought glory to the school through their achievements.
The program began with an address by the school’s principal, Mr. J. Maswahu. He congratulated the learners who represented the school in various competitions and praised them for their hard work and dedication. Mr. Maswahu encouraged other learners to follow in their footsteps and to explore their interests in sports and other fields.
Next, Ms. Adams, the head of the language department, and her teachers rewarded learners who won prizes in spelling competitions in Afrikaans, English and two African languages, Oshindonga and Khoekhoegowab (Nama/Damara). The learners who excelled in these competitions were recognized for their excellent linguistic abilities, which is an essential aspect of a well-rounded education.
Finally, Mr. Uirab, the school’s sport coordinator, presented awards to learners who represented the school in cricket tournaments. The junior cricket team members who represented the school and specific clubs in recent tournaments were recognized for their outstanding performances. In addition, three girls, Mekelaye Mwatile, Naomi Benjamin, and Mezerly Gorases, who represented the Namibia cricket team, were honored for their outstanding achievement in the Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular T20 International tournament. Although the team lost the final to Uganda by a narrow margin, the girls’ efforts were appreciated and celebrated by the school.
The event was a proud moment for Kuisebmond Secondary School as it recognized the achievements of its learners. The event emphasized that the school believes in nurturing talent and providing opportunities for learners to excel in their chosen fields.
