Erongo Governor Neville Andre Itope paid a visit to his former school, Kuisebmond Secondary School. The governor had a chance to talk to and motivate the students at the school. He then went on to look at the school hall project which we started in 2012 but is still incomplete.
Who We Are
Kuisebmond Secondary School is a school of excellence, located in the coastal town of Walvis Bay, Erongo Region, Namibia. A society of achievers, we are on a mission to uplift and change our communities through education. We offer classes from Grades 8-12.
Background
In 2012, Kuisebmond Secondary embarked upon building a multi-purpose school hall that would accommodate school activities as well as community activities that are currently taking place at our school such as the NAMCOL – Namibian College Of Open Learning classes, National University of Science and Technology part-time Saturday classes, the adult literacy evening classes.
How is the Multi-purpose hall beneficial to the school and community?
1. Kuisebmond Secondary school is a comprehensive five-year public high school enrolling 1 300 students in grades 8–12. The school’s parents’ meetings(evening) and other gatherings take place outdoors, which becomes unbearable at times, considering the year-round cold weather in the coastal town of Walvis Bay.
2. ABOUT 150 residents of Kuisebmond attend free various community seminars at Kuisebmond Secondary School each year. The seminars are offered by a non-profit educational organization, the Swan Assembly Trust(supported by The Flamingo Group in Sweden), run and managed by KSS staff. The trust aims to equip the youth with skills that are necessary for living independent, thoughtful, and responsible lives.
3. Three more educational institutions namely NAMCOL, NUST, and Ministry Basic Education (Department of Adult Education and Culture) use Kuisebmond Secondary Schools’ facilities in the afternoon, evening as well as on Saturday.
