February 2026 at KSS: A Month of Excellence in Sport and Academics

Sharing is caring!

February 2026 was a powerful and inspiring month at Kuisebmond Secondary School. From athletics victories to academic celebration, our learners showed determination, growth, and excellence.

Internal Athletics: Yellow Team Emerges Victorious

The month began with our exciting Internal Athletics Competition where the Blue, Red, and Yellow Teams competed with great spirit and determination.

After a competitive and energetic day on the field, the Yellow Team emerged as the overall winners. The event showcased teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among our learners.

Several athletes delivered outstanding performances and qualified to represent the school at Zonal level.

Zonal Athletics: Medals for KSS

Our athletes made the school proud at the Zonal Athletics Competition by bringing home multiple medals across various categories.

Highlights from the medal report include:

  • Gold Medals in 100m, 200m, 1500m, Shot Put, and Javelin
  • Silver Medals in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and Shot Put
  • Bronze Medals in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Discus, and Shot Put

Learners from U15, U17, and U19 categories performed exceptionally well. We are proud of every athlete who represented KSS with commitment and discipline.

Sport continues to play an important role in building confidence, teamwork, and leadership among our learners.

Prize Giving Ceremony: Celebrating Academic Excellence

Last week, KSS hosted a successful Prize Giving Ceremony to honour the academic achievements of our learners.

The ceremony primarily recognised the best performing learners in Grades 8–10 for the 2025 academic year. In addition, we proudly awarded the Top Ten Grade 11 learners who achieved between 30–45 points in their examinations and performed exceptionally well.

Their dedication proves that hard work leads to success.

Inspiring Words from Our Guest of Honour

We were honoured to welcome our former learner, Mr. Stimphet Seibeb, currently working for Manica, as our Guest of Honour.

In a powerful and relatable speech, he shared his journey of growing up in Kuisebmond and proudly spoke about his “ghetto life” background. He explained that he wanted something better for himself and therefore had to push beyond his circumstances.

He shared that he only started working seriously in his senior grades after Mr. Mutondoka had a serious conversation with him and his friends. Ms. Johannes even offered him classroom keys so he could study in the afternoons, as his home environment was not always conducive for learning.

He expressed surprise at how he eventually became one of the best performers in his senior years — something he never imagined earlier in his school journey.

His message to learners was clear:
Your background does not determine your future. Hard work and discipline can change your story.

Cultural Performances Added Colour to the Celebration

The event was beautifully supported by performances from:

  • The Oshiwambo Cultural Group
  • Our talented school learners
  • The Namib Marimbas

Their performances kept guests entertained and added pride and culture to the celebration.

Recognising Our Dedicated Teachers

Principal Mr. Jonathan Maswahu used the opportunity to thank the teaching staff for their dedication and commitment.

Teachers whose subjects achieved high percentages in quality symbols between A–C were recognised for their outstanding contribution to academic success.

He further motivated learners to remain focused and thanked parents for their continued support throughout the academic journey.

Moving Forward with Pride

February 2026 has shown once again that Kuisebmond Secondary School continues to grow in excellence — both on the sports field and in the classroom.

As we celebrate our achievements, we remain committed to pushing higher, working harder, and building a brighter future for every learner at KSS.

At KSS, excellence is not an accident — it is a culture.
