Kuisebmond Secondary School is brimming with pride following a spectacular performance at the Cricket Namibia Awards held on July 12, 2024. Our dedication to supporting young sportswomen has borne fruit, with several students and our school receiving well-deserved accolades. Although these learners are trained by private clubs from our community, we are immensely proud of their achievements.
Celebrating Our Cricket Achievements
The award ceremony was a momentous occasion, recognizing the outstanding performances of Namibia’s cricket teams. The theme of the event, “Spirit of Cricket Award – A National Team with Outstanding Performance,” resonated deeply with us. Our Under 19 (U19) National Team, which includes learners from Kuisebmond Secondary School, proudly took center stage. Mr. Uirab, representing KSS, received an award for their unwavering support of the girls who are set to participate in the qualifying matches for the U19 World Cup in Tanzania.
Individual Excellence
Our learners and former students stood out with remarkable individual achievements:
- Mekelaye Mwatile, who transferred to another school this year, was honored as the Capricorn Junior Women’s Best Batter for 2023, scoring 129 runs at an impressive average of 64.5.
- Sela Shiimi was awarded the title of U19 Bowler of the Year 2023.
- Mezerly Gorases received the prestigious Players’ Player of the Senior Women National Team for 2023 award.
- Uno Kaanjosa is among the talented players who will be traveling to Tanzania for the U19 World Cup qualifiers.
Kuisebmond Secondary School Opens for Semester 2
The school reopened for Semester 2 on Monday, July 15, 2024, with a special assembly to honor our national cricket players. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as we celebrated their achievements and wished them well for their upcoming matches.
Spellathon Winners Announced
In addition to our cricket accolades, Kuisebmond Secondary School recently held an internal competition, the Spellathon, sponsored by Coastal Office National. This event showcased the linguistic talents of our students, with winners being celebrated for their exceptional spelling skills.
